Welcome to my photography Web site
I can’t
remember a time when I wasn’t interested in photography. I grew up in a
time when photographs rivaled the printed word as the most effective media,
when Life Magazine was king, and Playboy was just getting started. TV had
not yet taken over.
My first
camera was a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye which used 620 film. I still have most
of the images I took with that camera and am still proud of them. In the
interim I have taken thousands of images: slides, color negative, black and
white which I self-developed, and now digital.
My first
formal photography course, however, was less than a year ago, after I
semi-retired. Never mind that I am now working harder than I did then at my
day job, my interest in photography is higher than it has ever been.
Photography
provides a means to express myself; to capture, view, and communicate what I
see and how I see it. While the process of creating an image is thoroughly
enjoyable, it is also very important to me that others enjoy what I create.
I also want to learn more about the art and science of photography in order
to increase my abilities to create images that are better quality, are more
interesting, and are composed concisely. Finally, I want to find an area or
areas where my interests and talent meld, and I can focus my work for
maximum enjoyment and impact.
